Have just taken a few minutes to take stock.
Some of my fiends will know that I have had a persistent shoulder injury for almost a year and a half now, and have been attending physio since February. Had been driving home today from it and just thinking where the time had gone, when the phone give a bleep which indicates some online activity.
Now normally it is someone commenting or liking a photograph which I love, but this time it was to inform me that my image had won image of the day.
I don't think there are many photographers that do not enter competitions. We can be kind of narcissistic when it comes to our work. Fortunately I do not think I'm that far yet but keeping an eye out for that change!! lol
Perhaps that is why after almost 5 years of wedding and portrait photography I have not entered any competitions.
That changed this week. Decided that all the behind the scenes work that goes on never mind the immense work load for online posting that this just is not going to ease off until or unless I start to employ someone to do this all for me.
So last week I entered my first competition. It was for best bouquet arrangements, and it ended up getting into the top 20%. Now I know that is not really much to brag about, but for me it was a nice feeling. First ever entry and it made it that far.
This week I seen an advert for portrait competition and thought, I will give it a go and see how it goes.
Now back to today's phone beep. It was a notification to let me know I had won the best image for the day with a wedding portrait of Lauren.
This competition thing could get addictive!! - oh no is this the start of the photographer's narcissistic syndrome!!! lol
That mean I can call myself an award winning photographer now! uhm lol
Anyway, just wanted to blog this, ever so small as it may be, it is a nice feeling to have photographers from through out the world judging my work into first place.
Take care and be safe
Mark
