Creative Art project with Rebecca Durran MUA

A month or so ago I placed a castling call up on my Model Mayhem site asking for stylists, make up artist and hair designers. I have been taking part in model photography for almost 2 years now and want to progress into a more polished and professional image. That can not be done with photography alone but needs a good group of stylists, mua and hair designers all working together to produce work they can all take pride in.

A couple of weeks ago Rebecca Durran contacted me and we met up in a cafe in Portadown to discuss ideas about make up. Rebecca was looking to collaborate with me on a creative art project. Rebecca was already aware of the models I had photographed on Model Mayhem and  after contacting them about this, they all wanted to take part.

The hardest part of any collaboration is planning lol. Rebecca, model, studio and myself all have to have free time all at once. After giving Rebecca my work schedule, she mentioned Thursday last week and a day when she would be free. It just so happened that Vitalij had also said he had Thursday free too also. So I was on the ball with the studio to get it booked which worked out for an evening shoot.

Below are some of the images produced from that shoot.

You may recognise Vitalij from a shoot I did with him last year.
Vitalij is an androgynous model which gives the visual concept of neither male or female. This look can be misunderstood, but it is a very respected aspect in the model world.

When I mentioned the creative art project to Vitalij he was very excited to be a part of it and both Rebecca and myself were equally exciting to be given the opportunity to to work with someone like Vitalij.

When Vitalij arrived he wanted  to try and push his androgynous look a bit further than he had before with a full female look.

Rebecca was more than eager to oblige and I left them to the make up while I got the lighting studio set up to give a bright fashion look.

Below is the first shoot that is not as far into the creative art look as we would have liked, but it did give both Rebecca and myself our first opportunity to see how we worked together. We both agreed to call Carlos in for a shoot to fully try a full blown creative art look. Today we meet up in the studio, and for 3 hours we all worked together, each giving input and have got some incredible images.

But for now. Below are some of the images from the first shoot with Vitalij.

Barbara fashion shoot in the Palm House Botanic Gardens in Belfast

Was delighted when Barbara contacted me to do a shoot with her. She was looking shots of cloths that she wanted to post on Instagram. She also loves flowers and wanted to include them in the shoot.

Latest studio shoot with male model Carlos Djalo

Just finished editing my latest shoot with Carlos. Its never disappointing to meet Carlos either to chat with of photograph as he has always the same warm in inviting personality.

Carlos contacted me a couple of weeks back to see if I would be interested in doing a low key shoot. This is a technique of giving the images a slight under exposed look. We didn't go full low key but did try and give that darker atmospheric feel to them.

So his portfolio was missing this kind of look plus body shots/underwear modelling, which I felt combined together would give a great look for him.

Below are a few of the images from that session.

As you will agree, Carlos is fast becoming one of Northern Ireland's top models and his work is certainly giving him amazing opportunities with top brands and names.

First Model Shoot with David Idris in Belfast Northern Ireland

Several months ago I came across David's modelling profile on Model Mayhem and commented on a great profile image he had in it. David consequently contacted me to see if I would be interested in having a modelling session with him. I was more than happy to photograph David and we both arranged a time and place.

Below are some of the images from that shoot. Though David is 18 and just getting started in modelling he already has a great presence and contact with the camera.
Look forward to seeing his portfolio grow and hope to be able to work with him in the future.
